Moving House & Moving Forward: Massive Progress Behind the Scenes
After a two-week break to move house, I'm back with updates on internal tools, SEO wins, and exciting plans for flexible GeoGuessr-style quizzes on Pin Point
Life update: I’ve just moved into my first ever home! 🏠 After a whirlwind couple of weeks of cardboard boxes, IKEA runs, and setting up internet for the 100th time... I’m finally back to working on pinpointme.net.
Progress Despite the Pause
Although I haven't had a chance to play any GeoGuessr during the move (still rusty!), I’ve quietly made a lot of behind-the-scenes progress.
🛠️ Internal Tools for Customer Management
I’ve started building an internal tool to help me manage customer data more efficiently. It’s still early days, but it’s already a game-changer. Here's a quick look at what I've built so far:
To make things smoother, I also created a bulk uploader. It scans my frontend TypeScript files, converts them to JSON, and posts them to my backend API — all automatically. No more manual data entry!
📈 A Wild SEO Surprise
While I was unpacking boxes and eating microwave meals, I noticed something huge: some of the pages on the site have seen a 1250% increase in Google search performance! 🤯
This came from pages like:
- Country guides
- Attribute-linked data views
- Blog content

Quizzes Are on the Way
With that boost in search visibility, I've decided it's time to push forward with a major feature: GeoGuessr-style quizzes!
I'm building them using a workflow-based system — meaning each quiz is made of flexible steps and logic. Here's what's planned:
- ✅ System-defined quizzes — structured and curated by me
- 🎯 User-generated quizzes — so people can build and share their own
- 🧠 Flexible question types — regions, attributes, guessing from image, etc.
- 🔗 Sharable links — to challenge friends or post on social media
This opens the door to an entire layer of interactive content.
In the future, I want to introduce:
- Leaderboards for competitive players
- Timed challenges to make it feel more like a speedrun
- Progress tracking for players and creators alike

What’s Next?
Now that I’m back, I’m prioritizing:
- Importing country data to power the new quizzes
- Making the internal tool more robust
- Continuing to write helpful content and guides for the community

Thanks for sticking with me during the move! If you're building something cool, whether it’s a personal project or GeoGuessr tool, I'd love to hear about it.
Stay tuned — big features are on the way 🚀
